African Festival

There was an African Festival at Forest Park and I went two days in a row.

Reason #1: I wasn’t really doing anything else

Reason #2: I was invited twice.

I had a lot of fun each time. They were playing interesting reggae versions of popular songs. They were mostly selling things though like clothes, jewelry, and food. People were dancing and I just thought it was really cool. There really is some cool stuff going on in my city. 

P.S. The one I went to today we ended up talking and staying until the moon lit up the fountains and the park closed and we were kicked out. I love my friends.

Friendship.

I only have a few qualities I ask for when making new friends. We have to be able to laugh together, always be there for each other (don’t be selfish), and never purposely try to screw me over or hurt me. A lot of people I thought I was growing close to have caused me emotional stress. I want to surround myself with people who will help me and support me and I will do the same for them. Lately, I’ve realized those around me are selfish and do not care if I succeed. I don’t need those people in my life. However, I thank the Higher Power that brought my best friend into my life because she keeps me sane. She’s the only person I truly trust.

Birthday Plans :)

My birthday is June 4th. At first I didn’t plan on doing anything for my birthday because I am broke and I have been emotionally and physically stressed out lately. Now I have changed my mind. Since I’m working the whole weekend after my birthday I want to make plans the weekend before my birthday. I’ve decided to make a whole itinerary :) This is what I have so far.

Thursday May 31, 2012 - Club

Friday June 1, 2012 - (Undecided) Maybe a picnic at the park with a few people

Saturday June 2, 2012 - (Undecided) No idea yet! (if I had money I’d probably get a new piercing)

Sunday June 3, 2012 - (Undecided) Probably something with family

Monday June 4, 2012 - (my actual birthday) - Going out to dinner with friends.

As you can see I haven’t thought in depth about it yet but I have a couple more days to get everything down pact. I have a feeling other people (*cough *cough* my mother) will think this is a waste of time and money when I could be studying or making money but finally doing something for myself (that doesn’t involve school or work) feels nice. I’m excited.
